It’s cold. Very cold. Winter definitely found Michigan. I can’t say that I am thrilled to see it. My driveway is slick with patches of ice. I stopped at Wal-Mart tonight to get some salt but they were sold out. My dogs are hating this weather and I can’t say that I blame them one bit. I’m not so happy about it myself.
Last week we got a pretty good snowfall. Several inches of heavy, wet snow fell around Metro-Detroit. Of course it came before I had paid the snow removal guy but after I bought a snow shovel. One I never hoped to use. It was hard work. All the while I reminded myself I was lucky to physically be capable of shoveling snow. I also reminded myself that I was blessed to have a home that I had to shovel snow from. It helped to keep my mood in check while I worked.
After shoveling my driveway, and the sidewalk around my home I went in the house sweaty but also cold and exhausted. I could feel the ache start to form in muscles I hadn’t used in a long time. I decided right then and there I had to do something about it. I popped a couple of ibuprofen and made a very important phone call.
“Do you accept credit card payments over the phone,” I whined to my snow removal dude. He told me not usually but he would take care of me. I wrote him a check and his crew was out the next morning, thank the Lord. A couple more inches had fallen and I was in no mood to shovel again so soon. Or ever.
